Big props are in order to my boy Positively Red of San Francisco's Original Dj Crew. In case y'all haven't noticed, he won MTV's Hip Hop Week DJ Battle. Not to brag or anything, but if you recall, I had predicated a Bay Area victory several weeks ago :). Let's face it the Bay is just one of those dj towns.. Now in all seriousness.. I watched Red's performance and I've seen him do better. He was one of those cats who would have to go head to head with fellow Bay Area djs like Q-Bert, Mixmaster Mike, Short Kut, Pam The Funktress and others during dj battles like the DMC.. Red was always quick and had the basic turn table tricks locked.. His forte, however, is being a dope all around dj.. At a club he is by far among the best when it comes to rockin' a club.. Like a Kid Capri, he's one of those guys who works a mic while spinning records and there are very few parties that he has not brought to a frenzy..

After years of toiling on the Bay Area's underground scene, Positively Red's skillz were finally recognized when long time vet DJ Kevvy Kev asked him to be his dj partner for his Danger zone Hip Hop show on commercial station Wild 94.9 FM. Red is a part of a larger well known dj group called the Original Djs which features CJ Flash who was an original member and producer for Timex Social Club..[remember the song 'Rumors'].. Flash was one of the first Bay Area hip hop djs to ever spin on radio.. For years he had things on lock as would be heard every Sunday morning rockin' beats on the very popular 'Music For The People' show which aired on UC Berkeley's radio station.. KALX 90.7 FM..

The Original Djs also feature DJ Mad Mike who was best known for his work with rap star Paris. In addition to his dope spinning skillz, Mad Mike was also known for his political acuteness and social insights when he and Hip Hop's Black Panther were on the scene. Him and Paris made a lethal one two punch. Also down with the crew is DJ Supreme who was recently featured on BET's Planet Groove and is known around town for his monthly mix tapes.. Rounding off the crew is new member B-Traxx who is a well known fixture around the Bay Area's Hip Hop club scene..Again props to Positively red for holding it down for the Bay Area.. and next time you're in the Bay Area look them kids up..
